The African Finance Association in partnership with Africagrowth Institute, Chartered Institute of Development Finance, the Development Finance Centre (GSB) and several academic, financial, banking and research institutions, will be hosting the 15th Annual African Banking, Finance and Insurance Conference in Kenya on the 18-19 April 2018. The conference will bring together academic, banking, financial and insurance researchers and practitioners throughout Africa and beyond to discuss issues impacting on banking, finance and insurance sectors in Africa. The emphasis of the conference will be on high-quality practitioners discussions and empirical research presentations focusing on issues relevant to emerging trends in banking, finance and insurance which have special relevance to Africa’s development. The African Finance Association is affiliated to a number of flagship publications including African Finance Journal, Review of Development Finance, Africagrowth Agenda and Development Finance Agenda. The African Finance Journal, is IBSS, Scopus, and Econlit listed and accredited by the South African governments and Department of Education for subsidy purpose. Review for Development Finance is both Scopus, CABS and IBSS listed and Africagrowth Agenda is IBSS listed. 

PHD SPECIAL SESSION

The conference will feature a PhD Special Session for competitively selected papers from Doctoral Students who are currently working on their dissertations. Convened by Professors Graham Partington (University of Sydney Business School) and Jerry Parwada (UNSW Business School) the PhD Special Session will offer accepted students the unique opportunity to present their dissertation proposals and have their work discussed by distinguished academics from top business schools. Throughout the Special Session, students will receive valuable advice about career development from leading scholars, and will discuss recent developments in the literature with fellow students and faculty members. To be considered for the PhD Special Session simply mention in your submission email:

  1. the institution/year of your PhD enrolment, and
  2. a statement that your paper has not yet been submitted for publication.

Authors of papers that are not nominated for the Special Session will still be considered for the main conference and invited to the PhD special session as attendees.

After the conference, authors are encouraged to submit their work to be considered for publication in the African Finance Journal. Certificate of participation will be issued to all authors. In addition to this, all abstracts will be published as conference proceedings on our website. Summaries of research (without equations) can also be submitted to the Africagrowth Agenda (it is IBSS listed).

STRICT DEADLINES

Deadline Submission of full papers is 28 February 2018.  Papers will not be accepted after 28 Feb 2018. Deadline for registration fees: 28 February 2018. Papers will be withdrawn after 28 February if fees are not paid
