The Africagrowth Indices Unit (AGIU) is a specialized multidisciplinary unit dedicated to the development, publication, research, and dissemination of Growth Indices for Africa's major economic sectors. The Unit will serve as a continental centre of excellence for measuring, monitoring, and forecasting economic growth using modern statistical methods, econometrics, Big Data, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and data science. It will develop scientifically robust sectoral and composite Growth Indices, undertake policy-oriented research, provide professional training and certification programmes, and organise the Annual Africagrowth Indices Conference (AGIC). Through these activities, the Unit will provide governments, investors, researchers, development partners, and the private sector with reliable evidence to support policy formulation, investment decisions, and sustainable economic development across Africa.
